The Sonnet Season
Illustrated Iambics & Ślokas

The Sonnet Season is a collection of introspective poetry shaped by two ancient disciplines of verse; Western Iambic form of William Shakespeare and Indic Śloka cadence (Vaidharbhī Rīti) of Kālidāsa, where rhythm becomes reflection and structure carries thought beyond time. Illustrated with vintage  visual art, these poems trace memory, longing, devotion, loss, and renewal through measured lines that honor both restraint and revelation. Composed primarily in Shakespearean, and at times contemporary, Iambic Pentameter, these sonnets trace four distinct phases of the young author’s inner life between 1975 and 1980, during formative college years. Most sonnets follow the classical structure of three quatrains and a closing couplet: each anchored to the author’s state of mind on a specific day and moment in time. This volume is enriched with Sanskrit Ślokas, Epigraphic Quatrains, and a periodic biographical narrative of the author that contextualizes the poetry.
