Prof. Dr. Sebastiano Porretta

Prof. Dr. Sebastiano Porretta is President of AITA, the Italian Association of Food Technology and food scientist of the Ministry of Economic Development at the Experimental Station for the Food Preserving Industry of Parma where is head of Marketing & Consumer Science Dept. Well known to the scientific community for his food product development research, he is actually coordinating National and International research projects aiming to create new food market segments. Author of more than 350 papers published in International journals, books, and author/editor of over 30 specialist books. Prof. Porretta is scientific coordinator of the main biennial conference “Italian Congress on Food Science and Technology” and serves on editorial boards of several international peer reviewed journals including as scientific editor of Italian Food Ingredients and Functional Foods journals. Member of the International Union of Food Science and Technology Board of Directors (2020-2022). In recognition his outstanding contributions to food science education, in 2011 Prof. Porretta received the National Top Scientist of the year; fellow of the Academy of the International Academy of Food Science & Technology since 1998. Chairman of the 22nd IUFoST World Congress on Food Science and Technology.
